My motivation (Refined)

So here's the long-waited post about my motivation. It's been almost one month since I said that I'm going to write a post about motivation. I procrastinated and that is quite an irony. Ok, firstly, I would say different strokes for different folks, what applies to me, may or may not applies to other people. So everybody gonna identify their own source of motivation. With that being said, I will start off with some of my background information. There are many factors in life that will affect on how a person is going turn out to be.  And in my opinion family upbringing plays a big part of it all. For me, I came from a doing-ok, middle class family. Though my parent's relationship was once on the brink of breaking apart and they remained distant after that, it did not affect me negatively, as I was sensible enough not to detour into the wrong path. Moreover, as bei...

A little secret

Ok today I will reveal a secret, and the secret is my result for this semester. The result was actually out a few days ago and the truth is I did real bad this time, I got a GPA of 3.6 for the semester.(Disclaimer: I do not mean to offend anyone or be ostentatious to people who got lower marks than me) All I'm saying is that it is comparatively bad to my previous semester's results. I was assiduous enough the previous semesters to achieve and keep up with a GPA of 4.6,  a 1st class. Frankly, I was quite proud of that, I felt prestiged to be in the 1st class, you know when people asked me about my GPA, they were rather astounded to find that I was a 1st class (maybe I don't have that studious look) and I think, that had motivated them a little, to be assiduous just like me (just kidding). It true, at least for me, whenever I hear an impacting speech or seeing someone accomplished something great, I ...

Demo Performace For Old Folks

Image
Today I had my first Taekwondo Demo performance in the public. It was for the elderlies at an old folks home called AWWA. The AWWA was having a Christmas celebration organised by our school NTU Welfare Service Club. A friend of us, Jit Woon, who is serving in the welfare club, had asked us if we would do a performance as a part of the Christmas celebration programs for the elderlies. Being a good-hearted and kind person as always, (at least I'm haha), we gladly accepted the request. At the celebration, we've seen a lot of volunteers that took their time off holidays and weekends just to come down to celebrate Christmas with the elderlies, it was a heart-warming sight indeed. There were volunteers dressed up as Snow "Woman", Reindeers, Santa Claus, and even have people dress-up as a turkey (loll) to create the festive vibe, and there were also fantastic programs planned out, like Chi...

Merry Christmas!

Image
M erry Christmas! 圣诞快乐!I'm spending my Christmas eve sitting in front of computer and doing blog, what a way to celebrate Christmas! Honestly, I don't feel any Christmas vibe around me, or maybe because I'm not in town , thus it's rather quiet outside, feeling just like any other ordinary night. Yesterday, My Taekwondo committees gathered together after training to have dinner and gift-exchange. We had really a good time and I could felt that we became closer together than before. When we first started off as being the committees, there were disputes,  distrust and distance between each other. Through the time we worked and play, trust was built, understanding was gained and knowing each other from just a person you see in the club to a friend that knows your little secret.  Relationships are wonderful and prized. Most of the time, happiness is found when you have a goo...

Star Wars + Septic Sore Throat

I am not a big fan of star wars, I've only watched 2 out of the 6 episodes and that was when I was very young, so my memories about the entire plot was rather vague. I was invited to watch the movie with Aunty Rebecca ( My Church leader) and her husband Pastor Boon Chao. Right after I entered the theatre, I took out my phone and look up on the star wars plots and settings, like a doing "crash course" to myself, so that later on when I'm watching the movie I won't have no idea at all about what is happening. The movie was so-so in my personal opinion and I have a feeling that there will be a next episode coming out in next year. I'm not going to spoil the plot here as I don't want to be flamed by haters hahaha. Few days ago I started to feel unwell of my throat, just feeling a tinge of dryness in my throat thus I didn't give much a hoot about it. But it turned worse, it feels sore and inflamed in my throat now and it infected my jaw-jo...

Vlog Ep 2: Gymming feat. HeNan & MingYang

Image
Now is 1am 20/12/2015. I just finished editing yesterday's video, I tried a few free video editing software but all was not quite good and up to my requirement. So in the end I just used Movie Edit Touch free trail which is the best I could find to finish up the video , and uploaded to YouTube. So the video is rather crude and raw without much refinement. Nevertheless, check out what did we do in the video! HeNain and MingYang are my friends in Taekwondo club, who are also in the committee together with me. Birdssss

Image
I just got back hall now, went to have supper with fellow taekwondo mates. Training today was rather fun, it was a bit different from the usual. We did scenario practice, which means that we were simulating a situation where we were corned at the verge of falling out of the mats and we were taught how should we respond to this kind of situation. I find it pragmatic to the real sparring, and realised I have a lot to learn and improve on. As more I practise taekwondo, the more I fond of this sport and more confident I felt with this sport. Back track to this Wednesday, it was a leg exhausting day. Ran in the morning, went to Jurong Bird Park afterwards, and top it off with a demo training at night. I rested the entire next day at home.  The truth was my friend, Long Dao, and I went to Jurong Bird Park on a whim. We were deciding on what to do for the rest of the day after we came back ...

First training after so long.

Image
We came back to training from the exam break today.   The turn-up rate was low as expected but it didn't hinder us from having a good and fun training. Surprisingly it wasn't as tired as I thought it would be after such a long break from training. Some of the members who are going to take part in Taekwondo Open Champhionship (TOC) has already been segregated into their own jangs and start drilling for the their Poomsaes, while some who are not partake in the competition just wandering around feeling not belonged..that's why you join TOC! haha just kidding. Anyway, it is good to be back, to catch up with friends, to sweat it out during trainings and to "de-rust" our skills. Taekwondo plays a big part in my life in University. This is where I can relax myself, vent out my stress and get to know peoples from other faculties that has the same interest. The peoples here are ge...

Pilot Returns.

Today was a long day. I went to church service in the morning, had lunch with my church adults, then went to EXPO IT fair to hunt for loots, I was looking for Mac-book pro but unfortunately they don't have it there, I think Apple just doesn't give discounts or promotions like that. Afterwards I went to meet up with my friends for dinner. I haven't been to church service like for a month because of my exams, after I went back today, everybody was welcoming me back and happy that my exam was over. This church I've been attending to is a unique one I would say because our congregation encompasses people across all ages, there're teens, young adult, adults and elderly, so it felt like one big family. My congregation is small, it is only about 20 plus people, so everybody knows everybody therefore we are closer and our bonds are stronger. After the service a few adults and I went to have lunch together. The few including me were all from different countries like ...

Good Day

Image
Today was a fulfilling day, I helped out a friend with his job competency assessment and then met up with another group of friends to catch up. So a friend of mine ask for my help that if I can make a trip down his work place and be his client for an investment product. Because his boss was going to sit in the meeting and access him on that if he was competent enough to sell a product to a potential client and evaluate his performance throughout the meeting. So in the end things went quite well, he was able to give comprehensive information about the products and handpick a product that suits the client's needs best. It also give me a glimpse of how working in banking sector is like and I've grasp a tinge of the idea about product selling. It requires a lot of trainings as well as practical experience with different scenarios. One thing to take away is that interpersonal skill...

Natinal Gallery

Image
Yesterday, I went to the National Gallery Singapore. There is an art exhibition there and the ticket is free for all locals. Since it's free so I went. To me arts are just weird. I personally don't appreciate some of the art works, because to me it just some random messy painting, and not really of a great art work and skills. So I'm just gonna upload some photos of the art pieces that I appreciated. It's good because it's big. This is a very detail and vivid painting of the lion's mouth But overall the lion is just ugly. I like the painting of the reflection, so realistic. Farmer's life. Cucumbers in a glass jar. ( My best guess) AAAAaaaaahhhh. (It is made of bronze) A fit rower. Singapore National Gallery.

We look smart!

I had just finished a project presentation this morning despite the fact that it has already been a week after my last exam. So how come there was still a presentation? FYI, this presentation was for one of my module and it is a competition in fact. The module is called "Design and Innovative Project" where we innovate and design a project (as you can tell from the name lol). So this module was 2 AU, which supposed to be relax and chill (the more AU it is, the more score weightage it carries and the more hours of teaching time). Somehow, it has turned into the most time-consuming module among all. We were allocate 3 hours per week to do the project on the timetable, then off the timetable I think we spent like another 3, 4 hours to do this crappy project. Why I said it is crappy because we what did...

Holiday Starts.

Image
Exams are finally over! The past one month has been a grueling process. Everyday I mugged from eyes opened to eyes closed, even though I started revision two weeks in advance, but it still felt like time were never enough.  Now holiday is here, hooray! It time to relax, still I wouldn't want to laze way this precious time, I need to plan and make it a fulfilling and productive holiday. So I crafted a to-do-list.I listed down the things that I want them to be done within this holiday. Hopefully, I can achieve what I've set for myself. Yesterday I've bought a book "Rich dad poor dad", many of you might have already read it before, but I haven't as I was a person who doesn't read much.   What has gotten me start on this book is that I watched a video from YouTube, Joe Jo (Currently my favorite YouTuber), he recommended this book to read for business starters and for success. In...

我很丑,可是我很温柔。

Image

Halfway through!

It's midway through the exam period now, I've finished another two exams on this Monday and Tuesday and left with two more papers. I did so-so for the last two, cause I felt like I didn't had enough preparation as well as I have not been dedicated enough to my studies for this semester. It was partly due to my commitment in my CCA Taekwondo Club, because being a committee in the club required me in doing more works and it takes up more of my time, but it was for the interest of the club, and after all that's what a committee member meant to be doing anyway. So can't complain. Talking about grades, what are grades to me? As a kid growing up in a Chinese family, it bound to have high expectation from parents, I was always required to be the best, especially in terms of academic. When I was younger, I studied hard and got good grades was not for myself, but rather for the fulfilment...

How many of you know what is "Fro-Yo"?

Image
Don't know what is "Fro-Yo"? It's ok, I will reveal it later in this blog. Today I went out with my friends from poly to celebrate Cao Yuan's birthday. I felt very close to this group of friends, because I've known them for very long and we shared tons of funs and unforgettable memories together. The times in poly was so dope, we were really just about having fun and being care-free. So we went to this restaurant at Star Vista, "Nando's", it serves mostly chicken meat with a special sauce named "PERI PERI", so special that they need to call it twice. The chicken meats are served in forms of Burger, Wrap, a BBQ stick, and all sorts, also it came with different level of spiciness for you to choose. I went with the Chicken Breast Burger, its then I've found my NEW LOVE-- Arugula a.k.a the garden rocket , though it resembles nothing like a rocket. It was put in the burger with the chicken breast meat in place...

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication“-Leonardo da Vinci

Just done with one exam today, I felt super exhausted, but at the same time feeling tad relief that one paper is down, four more to go! The exam was okay, doable. It was on Data Structure, a subject that develops our logic and ability to translate our ideas into codes. I would say it was fun and amazing that when you learnt how can a complicated problem be solved using such a very simple method,  turning sophistication into simplicity. However, Leonardo da Vinci said "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" so.. it's subjective, I don't know anymore...  Maybe, it's true is when you couldn't even solve the simplest question out of all, in the exam paper . Lol , joke. I was a little worried before exam, because I didn't had a good sleep the night before exam. I went to bed early, I rolled around, flipped left and right, just couldn't get to sleep, maybe I was in a state of anxiety, exam-fright? Because, all I see is algorithm...

我的少女时代

Today, I just watched the movie "我的少女时代" on Dailymotion, if you haven't watch it yet and don't mind watching a cam-recorded version of it, click here  . Before I watch the movie, there are numerous positive comments from my friends talking good of this movie, some said that "It was 10 times better than 那些年" . Weow, that's a pretty bold statement. It's pretty good, even though I watched it with a high expectation, it managed not to fail me.  Good job. The movie has plenty of different elements in it, romance, friendship, comedy and also nothing short of a tear jerker. The movie really touched the softest spot in my heart, I haven't been so emotional while watching a movie for eons. The part  I felt the most is near the ending where they were revealing how much things that the main lead guy has done and gone through for the main lead girl in da secret,...

A little kind gesture made my day.

Image
I went to NBS lounge to study today, to my surprise there are sweets and cards on  tables to encourage students to push on for the exams! This little gesture had really lighten me up and a good start of the day. Here's a photo of it. I don't really understand what the message on the card trying to say, but I guess it is telling us do not go YOLO on your exam? Pretty wise. Maybe it's a kind of marketing tactic, to show people this company cares about all we weary and jaded students in the midst of exam. Or is it because it is the NBS lounge and that's why they cared?  Because I feel that nobody cares about EEE students, we are just sad. Peace out.

Last minute work is my style. For exam.

I've been   mugging tirelessly since from the morning till now, barely had any break in between and I felt so drained. You may think that wow dude, you are so hard working, but in fact, this is the result of lazing and lounging around for the whole semester until weeks ago when realization of final exams are coming kicks in, make me had a panic attack. And then tied a head band on my head that signifies the will of determination and perseverance, tell myself that I will study hundred and one percent hard with the pitiful amount of time left, and swear to God that I will never do this again next sem because it is so mudda* torturing. *quote from Joe from JustKiddingNews, one of my favorite YouTube Channel. To cram a semester worth of studies into just a few days is indeed no mean feat. Sometimes I admire the capability and capacity of my brain, I'm like oh brain you are the be...

Where it all starts

I don't know what has gotten into me, now it's 12:40 am, and I'm in the middle of hectic revisions for the finals, yet I have this sudden urge to start a blog? That's so abnormal. Call me weird.  However, I think it is something I wouldn't mind doing, because the plus side of writing a blog is that I can practice and improve my English. Yay. To be honest, it is something that I really need to work on. I have been mocked many times for my poor English and clownish mistakes like mispronounce words like roster for rooster, Tamil for timer (my tongue is retard), misspell 'time flies' for 'time flys' and e.t.c, sure it was funny at the time, but when I step in to the society in the future where situation requires you to be serious and not so much tolerance of you goofy mistakes then it wouldn't be that funny anymore. ( Or maybe if I can crack my boss up and make his day then would I be lucky enough to get a promotion? lol) So English is important ne...
