Malacca Exchange

Image
I have went to Malacca for Exchange with my trad TKD club over last weekend. It was a three-day trip. First day we had cross training together, then on the second day they had a competition between a few clubs, and on third day we was being tourist and exploring around Malacca. I didn't get to participate in the competition this time round because due to the time and resources constraint, they can only conduct a competition for girls. The competition ended well, and our fighter had did us proud and have clinched many medals. And it sure would be a valuable experience for them. Besides training and competition, we had roamed around malacca and hunted for good food as well, there are a lot of local delicacies which all pleases us. One of the place we went it called "Jonker Street", a night market. The street was teeming with street stores and people, and it was a true manifestation of a night market's atmosphere. Moreover, we have also went to a few places to do photo...

Exam Preparation.

Image
Every time around this time of the year, nearing exam, I will get sick, this year is no exception. I got a flu recently, right before exam week. Maybe is because of the treacherous, erratic weather out there or maybe because my roommate passed his flu to me. Damn it longdao haha. I don't feel as nervous as before for this exam. I have only three paper and one of it is open book, plus my exam starts on the second weeks of the exam week, that gave me plenty of time to study for exam. The content of the modules I took this semester, is relatively interesting and applicable, so it makes revision less dreadful and dry. Maybe that is how it has been for other school and courses all along, engineering is dead boring. There are going to be umpteen events in the next one month. Tomorrow, I was invited to a friend's bbq; then, next Saturday, there is a good friend of mine getting married, congratulation to Nathan and Vee Nee; After exam, Trad TDK club is going to Malaysia for competi...

The first lesson in forever that really piqued my interest.

I really like the information security modules I took this semester, not only that I have interest in this area, it is useful for my future career as it has a growing demand for people in this discipline, but also I like the professor and his the way of teaching. The professor is someone who really can relate to us students well, he knows student's thoughts and understand that students normally would not have so much attention span to last for one full hour of lecture, so he would take breaks in between the lesson, show us interesting videos and jokes, often time we find the jokes funny and laughed which is really refreshing. In addition, he would show us inspirational quotes at the beginning and the end of the lesson, and I liked it a lot. There is a particular quote that he had showed us today, which I thought I would share it here: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that took our breath away. "   People may come and go i...

Image

Getting busy

Image
As this semester is coming to an end, I am getting busier. The first half of the semester was rather relax, and I liked the pace and the hours of lessons, I felt very comfortable with it. And then when it comes to the second half of the semester, it is just pure hectic. There are a few assignments to submit and quizzes to study in the next two weeks. And my progress for it is behind schedule, I need to be more disciplined and focused because there is not much time left. (And yet I'm here blogging now... I know right. lol) This Sunday is our Traditional Taekwondo Grading, so one less day to study. I'm rather prepared for the grading, I have familiarized with all the moves and stances, but there is still room for improvement on my punching as senior saaid my punch lack of strength. I really wish I could do well in this grading so that I have a chance to promote to red belt straight away, though that's not very likely to happen, but I will do my best regardless. After ne...

Presentation Done + PA-STF over + A cute dog

Image
Today I just finished with my professional communication presentation. I felt that I did so-so, I was rushing during the presentation as I was afraid that I would exceed my time limit. Because, during practice, I timed myself as I present, I would always exceed 5 minutes and sometimes even 7 minutes when I taking my time, so I sped up my pace during the presentation. (One person only has 4 mins to present) Furthermore, I didn't speak clearly at times, because I was speaking too fast thus didn't have a clear pronunciation of words. Also that, my body was facing away from the audience and the camera, so it looked like I didn't give enough attention to the audience. Even though, there are so much mistakes, but at least now I know that what are my mistakes and I definitely will do better next time. My teammates, some of them did well, and some of them did not do so well because they are nervous and not very well prepared. But anyway, its over and now we can concentrate on o...

Growing Pain.

As I grew older, I find that life isn't so perfect as I thought it would be. I always thought life's going to be a smooth sail when I become an adult, everything will just fall right into place. Little did I know that nothing is going to fall in place if I don't make an effort. Things won't magically turned to be in the right way, if I didn't deliberately make it happen. Everything in life needs effort to make it right. So I learnt to be hardworking. As I grew older, I have more to learn. I have to learn to manage my emotions, handle my stress, bear my responsibility and commit to my commitments. I need to be mindful about what I say and what I do. I'm no longer have the benefit of doubt for being young and innocent when shit happens. So I learnt to be strong. There are a lot more things to learn in life, even the things which I thought I've already know. The process of growing is definitely painful, but it will definitely be rewarding. So press on,...

CCNA Passed!

This week Wednesday I had done my CCNA Exam and I had passed it! I was very nervous during the exam because there are quite a few lab questions that I've never seen before, and I panicked. However, I was able to configure out how to do the lab question after some time and contemplation, besides luckily there are suffice time to the exam, and it allowed me to delve on the spot.  This week was the second week of school and I started to have assignments and projects need to work on. So from next week onward, it is going to be busy. Hope I can have the motivation and the discipline to pull through this semester.  Later on, I am going to school for FIC camp dry run of my Taekwondo Club. And next week it is the actual camp, hope the camp gonna run smooth without any hiccups and be fun and interesting experience for the freshmen.

Want to create your own QR code?

Today, as I was walking around at the CCA Fair in NTU, a person from a club initiate a conversation with me, he asked me if I was interested in their club, and I said you can tell me more about you club, how is the training like, the timing , the location e.t.c. After he explained everything, I decided to leave my contact no. and sign up, but their laptop was being used by another person, so the person told me that I could scan their QR code to sign up, it pique my interest, I was quite amaze and curious how did you generate the QR Code. So after some research, I found out that actually is very easy. There are tons of QR Generator you can find on the web, but there is a particular QR generator I would want to recommend to you guys. Happy Birthday Singapore!

Happy 51st birthday Singapore! The proudest thing about Singapore is that it is truly able to achieve racial harmony in the society. People whom are from different races, cultures and religions could live peacefully with one another and see ourselves as one identity, it is indeed no mean feat. So may this country continue to prosper, strive and achieve greater goods. I still see myself as half a Chinese National, though I already am a Singapore Citizen. We just couldn't leave our root, our past behind, I was born and raised in China, I had my fair shares of the culture's influence. The morals and values which I learnt had deeply ingrained in me. Although, I now prefer some of the westerner's way of doing things, but I would still abide by some of the principals I learnt from the Chinese culture, I pick the best of both worlds. Pokemon Go has launched in Singapore early this week, it was a huge hit. People are crazy over this game, you could go anywhere at anytime to find...

Staying at home make me lazy.

School is going to start next week, and the progress of me studying CCNA is behind schedule, I don't think I could make it in time to take the exam this week. Staying at home, makes me lazy and unproductive. I should go to library instead where is free from distraction and my bed. I am going to move into my new hall before school start, my roomie already moved in and he sent me some pictures of our room. The view outside our window is good, bright and clean. Also it seemed that the new hall just had their mattress changed, it looked pristine in the photos. This is way better than my previous hall(hall 2), the mattress back in hall 2 is sticky and browned, the room is dirty, and toilet stinks, but it is a convenient location as it nears the canteen, supermarket, bus stop, SRC e.t.c. Whereas, my room in the new hall is located on a higher floor, and it is further from bus stop. I guess you just can't have the best of both worlds. Looking forward to the start of school, I...

Meet up with my army bros.

Image
Today, I went to meet up with my CQ course-mates, some of us haven't seen each other for the longest time, we had a good catch-up and it feels great.  we went to Keisuke Tokyo at Suntec city to have some ramen. The ramen there was ok, but the soup is thick as it has a lot of pork fats in it, which make me felt fattening. It has similar service to the one ramen shop at bugis, which they provide free flow of boiled eggs and bean sprout which is quite a good catch . As always, I made myself egg-mayo side dish. After dining, we loitered around the suntec city and ended up in a ice-cream shop to rest and chat. Most of them has started working, moving into next phase of life, jokingly asking each other when to get married. The funny thing was that all the people got attached has a Malaysian girl friend, and they shared the antic accent of their girlfriends, and it funny. haha. Hope we can have this kind of session more often next time. Here's a photo of the day: Miche...

Internship Completed!!!

Yesterday marked the end of my internship, Hooray! no more agonizing traveling to work. I had learnt a great deal of knowledge about IT discipline from the job, and I've grown my interest over this field , it would probably be my first consideration of my future career. This internship has taught me to be more productive and how to utilize my time well. In my opinion time is a precious resource, if you could use it well, you will benefit from it. I still have two more weeks left to school starts, I don't really have any plans for the two weeks. I think I will just study for my CCNA for the most of the time, and then try meet up with friends, work out and maybe start to read a book. It really seems boring, I want to go for a holiday, but maybe next time. Actually I'm looking forward to schools starts. I think it's more fun in school where I have things to do, can see my friends everyday, and can do my Taekwondo every week. This is just the manifestation of only-child...

What's the difference between 'Completed' and 'Finished'?

Image
Today, I read a message, and found it interesting, so I thought I would share with you guys. "Especially for English Language Lovers.. Can anyone tell the difference between 'Completed' and 'Finished'? No dictionary has ever been able to define the difference between 'Completed' and 'Finished.' However, in a linguistic conference, held in London England, Sun Sherman an Indian American, was the clever winner. His final challenge was this. His response was: When you marry the right woman, you are 'Completed.' If you marry the wrong woman, you are 'Finished.' And, when the right woman catches you with the wrong woman, you are 'Completely Finished.' His answer received a five minute standing ovation." And today, I've collected my new specs, and it looked good on me. Muhahaha. "喜欢是携子之手,爱是与子偕老。“ - 汪涵

坚持就是胜利

I pulled through another week.

There will always be struggles.

And besides I have a short story to share, I remembered I read this story somewhere on Facebook previously, and it came across my mind again while I was on the bus on my way home. So the story goes something like this. One day a young man came to a park just after a big quarrel he had with his girlfriend. He sat down on a long bench and feeling distressed and anguished. Then there was an old couple walking towards the bench. The old man sat down on the bench as his wife ask him to wait for her here. They seemed so lovely together. The young man admired the old couples and feeling curious, so he asked the old man " Sir may I know how to have a perfect relationship like yours? " The old man looked at him for a second and smiled, and he said to the young man  "This is no perfect. There will always be struggle. You just need to choose who you wanna struggle with." T here will alway...

Time-conscious

Because of my work, internship. It requires me to wake up very early in the morning everyday, thus I have gotten used to waking up early, even on weekends, I will naturally wake up around 7.30 am, no more sleep in. I find it is a extremely rewarding, as waking up early equals to adding a few hours to your day. I would treasure those extra few hours in the morning on top of  the hectic daily routine as it spares me to do some thing new or different, depends how I would utilize it. Normally, if I woke up early, I would go for a run. Exercise has becoming a part of my lifestyle. During my working days, I would exercise half an hour after work, on alternate days. Of course there are days I cheated myself and skipped the exercise. Anyway, I am trying my best to keep up the exercise routine that I've set for myself. And also because of working, there's really not much free time to do my own things, thus I would cherish the few hours after work even more. This is a good thing, value...

Off day and Congratz to Cavs!

Today I took an off, it was an off-in-lieu for Vesak day. I went to Malaysia with my mom. As usual, we ate good foods and shopped a lot, mostly she was doing the shopping and I would just go one around in the guys section and then standing around waiting for her to finish her loot hunting. I gotta admit this, I don't really like shopping, I always wonder how can females shopped for hours and not getting tired, that's truly amazing. We watched a movie too, "Warcraft", it was good in my opinion, the story-line and lore was interesting enough, and the visual graphics were stunning too, looking forward to the next episode, and I believe there definitely will be one.  Yesterday, my NTU TKD committees met up with our junior committee, our successor. This meeting was long overdued , as because everybody was busying with their own stuffs and we didn't get a unanimous timing to meet, so we dragged until yesterday. In the meeting, we briefly, shared our roles and responsi...

All the best ben!

It's been another week, last Saturday my poly friends and I met up again in a very long while. Everybody had some new updates and we are still as bonded as before, I really treasure and glad that the bonds we forged during our poly time and it has lasted for so long. We went to The Grandstand, on the eve of father's day. It was my first time being there, there are quite a lot of choices for food, and the ambient is good. In the end, we ended up going to the Carnivore restaurant. It is a meat-buffet restaurant, where they bounce from table to table to offer you variety of meats. The lamb and the beef is especially tasty there, but the ham is like meh. There is a ingenious design of a indicator or a sign board on the table which you can rotate it to a side to tell if you would like to keep the food coming, or you are good for now. I wouldn't say no to a beef or lamb. There is also a salad bar, to refresh your taste...

After so long.

Hey guys, I'm back~ It's been long long time, time flies by in a blink of an eye. So my exam was over, and results were out last week, I did so-so this time, better than last semester though, but the goal of achieving first class is a dream now. I've reckon that in order to get back my 1st class, I have score GPA of 4.77 every semesters left, apparently this time I didn't hit the quota. I'm just gonna maintain my 2nd upper now.   Quite a few things happened recently, one of it was that Xue Qi, a friend of mine in NTU EEE. He has become a father on the 1st of May !! His son is indeed the fruit of his hard labor, and they can commemorate it every year thereafter. So shocking, so sudden. But once again congratulate Xue Qi had promote his status from a husband to father! He scacrifice a lot during this exam period, on one hand he had to manage study for exam , and on the other hand he had to take care of his dear wife and wake up every three hours to feed his son. Ex...

Exam is tomorrow.

It's been awhile since I update this blog. I was busying with school and shit, btw exam starts tomorrow. And also that I got super lazzzy to write a blog post. My enthusiasm about this blog is dying, oh no. A few updates so far. My club had our celebratory dinner for TOC at Safra Jurong the Sunday after TOC . The junior comms did a jolly good job in planning the out all the programs and settling the venue plus the sumptuous food. Way to go!  We believe that they will be a good committee as well and so I think we have no problem entrusting the whole club onto their hands hor. haha, we shall see. And also, it is THE time for my comm to wash hand away from our duties and retire! haha. Pang Gang Loh! Recently, I had bought a big-ass bottle of protein powder, as I am quite serious about gym-ing and I want my body to be nourished and have enough amount of...

TOC is over. New Phase. New Target.

TOC was a success. It took place on last weekend in NTU SRC, again without fail our NTUTKD had yet won another Overall TOC Championship by a large margin. We had won 13 Golds for Poomsae, 5 Golds for Kyorugi, it was indeed a remarkable result. I would like to congratulate all the participants for their contributions and achievements. Well done guys. I didn't contribute to any part of this success for achieving such a remarkable result, because I had withdrew from the competition due to my injury. It was so unfortunate and I felt a sense of loss when I see our participant giving all their best in the competition, yet I sat among the audience's seats and watch. It felt like I am not part of these. Well, they said there will be always next time, but I doubt I will compete next year too, I can't say for sure. Regardless the fact that whether I had missed the opportunity to compete in Kyorugi or not, let bygones be bygones, there are m...

LeeTong & KaiXin's Wedding.

Image
Here is a dedicated post for LeeTong and Kaixin's wedding on last Sunday. I've came to know LeeTong in Singapore Poly, we were classmates. We were very close during poly, in fact the whole of my poly classmates were very close to each other, maybe that was due to we were small in number, so we got to know everyone very quickly and we clicked very well. Our class was very bonded, there were numerous memorable events throughout the 3 years of poly. We were funny and crazy, for instance, we would went to east coast at midnight and played water gun fight. Shiok. Yeah those were the good old times. Okay, not to digress, let's talk about LeeTong and KaiXin. LeeTong is a very nice and kind person, and also very matured. Perhaps, it's because he is old than us as he's came from ITE. He's sensitive and thoughtful to people as well, and also he is a very humble man. I've known KaiXin through LeeTong of course, she is also kind and nice, and able to ...

Road to recovery. -My eyes are getting better!

It's been awhile since I blogged. It is because I was resting and recovering from my eye injury. Just a quick update, my eyes is getting better day by day, though it is not completely healed yet. My eye movements are still somewhat restricted, I can't look up and down at certain angels as I will see a double vision due the eye muscle injury; the area below my left eye to my upper lips is still feeling numb, yet it is too getting better than weeks before, I can feel there is a progress. You know because of the numbness on the upper lip, I couldn't feel it if there is something on lips or my nose is running. At times, I only to find there's something sticking on my lip until I see a mirror or I only to know my nosing is running when the water is dripping into my mouth. Sorry gross. lol. However, I'm very grateful that there is no damage to my eyesight, I think it would be much more of a problem ...

An unpleasant experience.

On Tuesday, during Taekwondo training, I have injured my eyes. We were doing sparring practice, my practicing partner had landed a slamming kick on my face while I was charging in. All I remembered was that I heard a suffocated boom, my ear was ringing and then instantly I felt the immerse pain on my left eye and my face. I rolled on the floor due to the unbearable pain, quickly people gathered around and asked me was I okay, I thought it wasn't anything serious, and just needed a break. So my partner pulled me away and let me rest. As I was resting, the pain on the eye and face didn't go away, it didn't subside. Then my eyes was tearing uncontrollably, I felt breathless and started to break out cold sweat. I thought I just needed a longer rest, but after 10 mins the pain was still the same intensity, and I began to feel weak and hungry, then all the sickening symptoms start to manifest. I started to feel nauseous, and dizzy. At that moment I realized it was ser...

Happy Valentine's Day + Deadpool

Today is again the day of the year, February 14, Happy Valentine's Day people. To all the attached, last long, have a sweet and committed one; to all the singles, wish we all can find our true love soon! Although I don't have a valentine, I enjoyed myself today.   Morning, as usual, I went to church service. (For those of you who don't know, I'm a Christian.) The turn-up rate was not fantastic, I'm the only youth who went, the others are all busy with their own activities I guess. The service today was good, what I've taken away from today's sermen was a phrase "Thank God for today, Trust Him for tomorrow." preached by Pastor Sandy ( The Team White ) I found it very applicable to me. I am grateful for what I have now, I've seen my friends who had much worse situation than me, I'm rather blessed compared to them and I ought to be contented.  In addition, we need to entrust our uncertainties of tomorrow to God, have f...

Another CNY day with friends.

Image
Yesterday night, I met up with a few of my poly classmates again.   We went to dine at the Monster Curry first. I have to say the serving plates there were really huge, it was bigger than the size of my face, and the combo set was really monstrous too, its a portion for two, for sure. I didn't have the combo set though, I had just a regular curry chicken rice, and it tasted so-so, nothing impressive, it's like I wouldn't travel down to Jurong Point or any other place just for that curry solely. And because, it was my first time eating Monster Curry, so I went for the novelty of it. After dinner, we went to CY's house, had a few rounds of gamble as it was still in the midst of the CNY and it is THE thing to do during CNY. The moneys that we used to gamble were trivial. At the end of the day, the biggest winner had won like whopping 2 dollars and 30 cents only. Purely for entertainment purpose. W...

Happy Chinese New Year!

Image
This year is the year of monkey , so I wish everyone would be as lively and witty as monkey, and also wish everyone a healthy and prosperous year ahead. Yesterday night I had a feast with my mom. She cooked a lot of dishes and I helped to make the dumplings! For the first time, I made dumplings, it wasn't so bad! I didn't take a photo of it as it wasn't so nice looking haha. Ever since I start to have memories, the CNY has  always been spend with families, have reunion dinner and 看春晚, 放鞭炮。 It was a norm. However, after I came to Singapore, the elements of the Chinese new year we used to have are lessened, and were lost along the way. There were no more playing with firecrackers and fireworks as it is prohibited here; no more reunion dinner with the whole families, just me and my mom; no more watching CNY show on TV but on a laptop; and it is just losing its flavor. The Chinese 春节晚会 is no long as interesting to watch as last time, ...

A night out with brothers

Image
Today my brothers in Christ and I, we met up for dinner at Holland Village. It's also for the purpose of bidding farewell to Nicholas as he is going to Philippines with his family tomorrow, not for leisure but business. Initially, I thought he's going to be away for 5 years as I remember he had told me something about going to Philippines to learn on business and entrepreneurship from his uncle. Then during the meetup, I only to find out that he's just going to be away for 10 days for this time, what a misinterpretation. Anyway we had jolly good time spend together. When we boys gathered around , there will never run out of lame jokes and childish antics. Boys gonna be boys. We had Yoshimaru ramen for dinner. Frankly, it was not so delicious as I remembered it used to be. I felt that the ramen was not worth the money spent, but again it's the company that matters. And after dinner, we were circling around the Holland Village in s...

Eventful month ahead.

It has been one week since the last post. I admit that I was being lazy, carried away with other stuffs. Now time to get back on track. I will continue to blog but it won't be as often as last three month. I will try to hit a target of two posts a week, do my best to adhere to the routine and keep this blog alive.  This one week, I have been active. I exercised almost everyday to keep up my fitness for the up coming TOC competition and of course to keep in good shapes. TOC is just around the corner, it's 41 days away and I can start to count down. However, I am still far away from the goal that I have set for myself, so it time for me to buck up and be focus. On the other hand, school works start to piling up a little bit, I need to make time for clearing up the heap soon, in fact, NOW. There's a test coming up next week, and the scope of the content to be tested is ambiguous. The lecturer told us that the formula will be given in the...

TOC Camp.

TOC camp has ended on yesterday's night with a success! Another milestone was downed for us, the committee, and with this we are left with one more event, TOC competition before we step down, looking forward to it! This camp wouldn't made possible without the help of the alumnus, the effort of the committees and the participation of the club members. Thank you everyone!  The camp was exhausting due to insuffient hours of sleep and prolonged hours of training, but it was fun nevertheless. The part I like about camps the most were those times we chitchat and play games before we sleep. I really enjoyed the time spend with group of friends, cause there will never short of laughters! We would always say nonsensical comments, do stupid actions and make fun of each other. SHo FUN Hahaha. You know friends plays together, stays together. We played two games, one wa called "Psyche". It's a mobile game that there will be a question asked and all the players have to come...
